Will Murray is a novelist, journalist, comic book writer, and one of the world’s foremost authorities on pulp-era fiction. Born in 1953 in Boston, Murray developed an early passion for classic pulp heroes, especially Doc Savage. His fascination led him from fan and researcher to a key figure in continuing the legacy of the Man of Bronze.
In 1978, Murray discovered an unused story outline by Doc Savage creator Lester Dent. This find became the basis for Python Isle, the first new Doc Savage novel in decades, which Murray published under the original house name, Kenneth Robeson. That project marked the beginning of a long and celebrated run. Since then, he has written over twenty full-length Doc Savage adventures, many based on Dent’s original notes and unpublished ideas, carefully preserving the tone and spirit of the classic series.
Beyond his work as an author, Murray has also served as literary agent for Dent’s estate and contributed essays, introductions, and historical research that have deepened modern understanding of the pulp tradition. He is the driving force behind The Wild Adventures of Doc Savage, a series that continues to expand the character’s mythos while staying true to its roots.
