Her New York Time obituary read: “Daisy Bacon, a writer and for many years editor of the now-defunct Love Story magazine, died Tuesday at her home in Port Washington, L.I. She was 87 years old. Miss Bacon became editor of Love Story, one of the first women’s weeklies, in January 1928 and remained in the post 22 years before retiring to devote herself exclusively to writing. She also edited other publications for Street & Smith, the magazine’s publisher, including Smart Love Stories, Detective Stories and Doc Savage, an early science-fiction magazine. Miss Bacon was the author of short stories and several books, including the best-selling ”Love Story Writer,” a book on how to write love stories, published in 1953. She is survived by a half-sister, Esther Ford Robinson of Port Washington.” – NYT, March 27, 1986
